What it Takes to Maintain a Diverse Group of Facilities

IMG_8840For nearly 40 years, Sunrise Services has provided a variety of quality services for those in need. Many of our services are now being offered in several counties in Washington. As our programs continue to grow, so does our demand for quality facilities. Mario Rodriguez, our Maintenance Lead, oversees the maintenance and improvement of our facilities to meet the ever changing needs of our clients, our staff and our services.

With a keen eye for detail, Mario has been working in our facilities department for seven years, and as Maintenance Lead since 2013. Prior to joining Sunrise, Mario worked as a plumber and electrician in Mexico and also worked with a local general contractor doing everything from small scale remodels to complete renovations. Mario’s team works in and around our facilities throughout our region and consists of himself and four other employees.

What excites you about your work?

For me, there is no such thing as a normal day. One day you’re working on plumbing in a facility in Skagit County, the next day you’re coordinating a remodel on a new facility in Everett. It’s important that we pay special attention to our own work and the work of our subcontractors to ensure the facility will be able to meet the needs of our staff and our clients.

What are some of the challenges you’ve experienced over the years?

Sunrise Services is growing into new areas. With that, our team is spending more time on the road to ensure our new facilities are ready to open to the public and the high standard that Sunrise Services is known for.  I am well known for being very particular and demanding of quality work. We think it shows.

What are you most proud of?

I’m a firm believer in teamwork and really enjoy seeing everyone do their best. When we come together as a team and finish a project, it’s a really rewarding experience for all of us because we know if helps our clients and our staff. This makes me very happy.

What do you like to do when you’re not working?

I really enjoy spending time camping and fishing. While out fishing, the experience of enjoying nature from the middle of a lake is very special to me. We’re especially lucky here in Washington as we have so many great outdoor opportunities.

At Sunrise Services, our administrative offices, adult family homes, mental health branches and plethora of other facilities are a critical component of what we do. We would like to thank Mario and his team for their focus, dedication and positive attitude – our facilities shine because of it.
